Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.
Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. I personally enjoyed this book, although I was hoping it would have its fair share of Twilight similarities. It didn't, but it just showed how great of a writer Stephanie is.

I thought about getting it and then I didn't know if I'd like it. The whole idea of what it was about...suppose I'd have to just give it a try though lol.
Is it as good as the Twilight saga? Writing-wise, though I'm certain it is since Stephenie is such a great writer.

ok im going to put my two cents in. this is my full run down of the host
i got it back in September and tried to start reading it the day i got it but i got so lost, i had to put it down. then, a week later. i gave it another shot. i was still lost but i kept on reading. it began to explain its self so much more as i got deeper into the story.
so, yes, the book was absolutely amazing.
the writing was as good as twilight. because,well, its Stephanie Meyer
